Technical Program Chair, Dr. Kenneth W. Struve of Sandia National Laboratories praised MEDB’s organization of the conference. “MEDB was extremely helpful, professional, and very accommodating to our requests. I especially appreciate their recommendations for program additions, including the “Haleakala” movie and the short introduction video about Maui. Their recommendation for having the opening reception outside on top of the conference building was also excellent. What a beautiful setting. The A/V setup that they organized was one of the best I have ever experienced at a conference. We also very much appreciated their attention to detail and thoroughness in handling the registration procedure, as well as their printing of the technical program agenda, which we had to substantially change during the conference. MEDB certainly represented Maui well, and left us with the desire to come back.”

Dr. Jim Degnan, Megagauss Conference Chairman of the Air Force Research Laboratory, Directed Energy Directorate seconded Struve’s praise. “MEDB greatly facilitated our Conference and made it as efficient and trouble free and enjoyable as possible. This was the best and most conveniently organized conference that I have ever attended.”

The success of the Megagauss conference, as well as other technical conferences such as the annual AMOS Conference, shows the capacity that MEDB and Maui have to host international technical conferences.

The task of organizing the conference is part of MEDB’s Tech Meetings Maui initiative that promotes high tech and visitor industry development through scientific and technical meetings. MEDB assists with scientific and technical meetings taking place on Maui by providing materials to conferees, arranging for tours of Maui’s high tech assets and organizing special presentations. MEDB works with Maui hotels, County of Maui and the tech community to forge awareness of Maui as a technology destination.

MEDB assists with preparation and logistics support for workshops and conferences. Services include site selection and negotiation; coordination with sponsoring organization to ensure proper arrangements are made for participants; website and online registration interface; meeting and logistics coordination; arrangements for food and beverages; and administrative assistance.

Maui Economic Development Board, Inc. welcomes your group and is available to assist in planning your scientific or technical meeting. Feel free to contact us with any questions. We will work with your group to ensure a successful meeting on Maui.
